Le Meridien Maldives Resort & Spa is a stunning 5-star escape. But with so many resorts in Maldives, is it really worth the splurge?
Here’s everything we experienced—so you can decide for yourself 💖
How was the overwater villa at Le Meridien Maldives?

We stayed in a sunset overwater villa—not the one with a private pool, as the price jump was a bit too steep. But honestly, we didn’t miss it one bit.
Being able to step straight into the ocean any time of day was magical. And yes, the villa came with one of those net-bed-thingies (you know the ones). It was surprisingly cozy and made for the perfect morning laze spot.
We specifically picked the sunset-facing villa to enjoy those golden hour views. The sunrise villas, while known for calmer waters due to their bay-side location, get a lot of morning sun, which we wanted to avoid. Although the current can be stronger on the sunset side, we didn’t find it bothersome at all.

And the bathroom? Stunning. A dreamy bathtub with an ocean view—absolutely a highlight.

We also mentioned that we were on our honeymoon, and the resort surprised us with a sweet card from the GM, some chocolates, and a bottle of champagne. A lovely touch that made us feel so welcomed.
What we really loved:

- Spacious deck with direct ocean access
- THE bathtub!
- Spotlessly clean room
- Thoughtful amenities (beach bag, flip flops, bathroom amenities)
- Unlimited bottled water
What to eat at Le Meridien Maldives?
The food scene here didn’t disappoint—there were plenty of options and we never felt bored.

Tabemasu (Dinner)
We kicked things off at their Japanese restaurant. The chirashi was phenomenal, and everything else was just as delicious. If we had more nights, we would’ve returned without hesitation.
Riviera (Dinner)
This beachside spot impressed us too. Riviera offers Mediterranean cuisine. The standout dish? Gambas al Pil Pil—the shrimps were cooked to perfection. Simple, but memorable.
Velaa Bar & Grill
We took a staff advice and ordered the burger, and wow—we got the hype. It came loaded with extras like eggs and ham, and it was so good we couldn’t stop eating.
Breakfast at Turquoise
Buffet-style with something for everyone: a fruit station (where they cut it fresh for you), a soup station, and even salads from their on-site greenhouse. Everything felt fresh and thoughtful.
Romantic Beach Dinner

Set in front of the Turquoise restaurant, the ambiance was unbeatable. The setup was intimate, and the food really lived up to the occasion.
💡 Tip: We went with the half-board plan, which includes breakfast and dinner. If you’re a light eater like us, it’s more than enough. And if you get hungry mid-day, you can always order à la carte—like that burger from Velaa!
Activities at Le Meridien Maldives?
While the resort is perfect for doing absolutely nothing, we tried a few of the activities on offer:
Massage at Explore Spa

Included in our honeymoon package. The massage room was located in an overwater bungalow with a glass-bottom floor—we could literally watch fish swim by during our session. So relaxing.
Guided snorkeling
We booked this as a paid activity. The house reef is technically swimmable from the beach, but… stamina was not on my side 😅. So we opted for the guided tour via speedboat, complete with an instructor.
We saw eagle rays, sea turtles, and a whole array of vibrant marine life. Worth it.
We shared the session with another couple. With a total of 4 people, it felt like a semi-private tour, which was great.
Greenhouse tour
This one’s free! A quick but interesting look at how the resort grows its own herbs and veggies.
Bike rentals

At $10/day, renting a bike was super convenient.
The island’s bigger than you think, and if you’re staying in an overwater villa, it’s a trek to the restaurants, spa, and reception. Biking saved us a lot of time.
Movie night
They occasionally host outdoor cinema nights with bean bags by the beach. Super chill.
Sunrise & sunset yoga

Beginner-friendly yoga classes are held right by the beach. The vibe? Peaceful and grounding.

There are other activities too—padel, kayaking, big game fishing, dolphin watching, etc.—but we didn’t get around to those.
How to get to Le Meridien Maldives?

To reach Le Meridien Maldives, you’ll need to take a 30-minute seaplane from Velana International Airport.
Once you land in Malé, a hotel rep will greet you and guide you to their booth. From there, you’ll hop on a short 10-minute minibus ride to the seaplane terminal.
Le Meridien Maldives shares a comfortable lounge with The Westin resort where you can wait.

Now for the not-so-great part: we had to wait almost 4 hours before boarding. Seaplane schedules depend on route logistics and passenger numbers since they’re operated by a third party—not the hotel. It’s a bit unpredictable, so keep that in mind when planning.
Is Le Meridien Maldives worth it?

If you’re dreaming of a romantic and serene Maldivian getaway, then yes—Le Meridien Maldives is absolutely worth it. Opened in 2021, it’s still a relatively new resort, which means the facilities feel modern, fresh, and well-maintained.
The resort was at 90% occupancy rate during our stay, but we didn’t feel like it. The ambience was still peaceful and laid back. For us, it was a memorable stay and definitely worth it.
