Scotland Hotel Review: Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

| Time to Read :

2โ€“3 minutes

If you’re planning a trip to Edinburgh and looking for a place to stay that’s stylish, comfortable, and right in the middle of all the action, then you’re probably going to love Virgin Hotels Edinburgh.

Itโ€™s cool, modern, and a bit playfulโ€”just like what Virgin is known for. But also super cozy and convenient. Anyway! Here’s why I think you’re going to love your stay here:

Location: The Best of Edinburgh at Your Doorstep

Virgin Hotels Edinburgh is right in the heart of the Old Town, which means youโ€™re never far from the cityโ€™s top spots.

As you step outside, you will find the famous Bertie’s Proper Fish & Chips on your left and the classic Howies Restaurant just across the street. And yes, these are located on Victoria St, which is such a picturesque street.

Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, and all those little winding streets youโ€™ve seen in photos are just a short walk away.

You can easily spend your day sightseeing, grabbing a cuppa in a cozy cafรฉ, and really taking in all the view without ever needing to hop in a cab.

The Rooms: Cozy, Clever, and Just Right

Now, letโ€™s talk about the rooms. Virgin Hotels does things a little differently, and the โ€œchambersโ€ here are designed with comfort and convenience in mind.

Theyโ€™re “split” into two sectionsโ€”one for relaxing with a big, comfy bed, and cushy headboard; and the other as a dressing area with a vanity, loads of space for your stuff, and 2 separate rooms for shower and the loo.

Everything feels fresh, stylish, and really well thought out. Theyโ€™ve got some tech touches that make your stay even easier. You can control the lights, temperature, and even room service from the TV.

The minibar was also soo extra and I love it. A flashy red SMEG fridge is just a really nice touch. Also, the little chocolate treats they prepared for us just added to the whole experience. So thoughtful, so playful, so classy.

The Vibe: Fun and Relaxed, with a Touch of Class

I think what makes Virgin Hotels stand out is the vibeโ€”itโ€™s got that cool, modern look, but it doesnโ€™t feel too formal or fancy.

Youโ€™ll notice bold colors, quirky art, and comfy furniture everywhere, which makes it feel really welcoming. The staff are friendly and approachable, so you feel at home the moment you walk in.

Thereโ€™s a lovely area filled with books and boardgames if you just want to chill. Itโ€™s the kind of place that balances fun with relaxation, giving you the best of both worlds.

The Rooftop: Stunning Secret Hidden Gem

To be honest, this is the strongest reason as to why I decided to book my stay here. The stunning rooftop really gives you the opportunity to soak in the view (and take many photos) of the Old Town.

You can find cozy benches and coffee table at the rooftop, which makes this a really nice place to chill. Keep in mind about the weather though, it was super cold and windy in November, so I couldn’t stay for long.
