If you’re looking for a hotel in Scotland near Edinbane in Isle of Skye, then this post is for you.
Greshornish House Hotel is located at a quite remote place somewhat close to Edinbane with a top notch service for their guests. And if you’re in luck, you could see the beautiful aurora (I actually didn’t get to see one– but absolutely loved my stay there!)
Here’s my highlights of the hotel:
1. The scenic view

The remote yet peaceful location was undoubtedly the highlight of this hotel. The nearest residential area is probably Edinbane, which is a charming village just 10-min drive away.
While not guaranteed, the hotel’s secluded location offers a chance to witness the breathtaking aurora on a clear winter night. One of the hotel crew showed me some stunning photos of the aurora taken from the hotel, head to their Instagram to find out more ๐
The hotel overlooks a calm sea (or I think it’s a bay…?), which further adds to the serene ambiance.
The road to the hotel was an adventure in itself! As you approach the narrow road, you’ll be greeted by the lovable localsโ sheep grazing peacefully with breathtaking landscapes as the background.
๐กTip : there’s a single lane road on the way to the hotel with sheep occasionally found blocking the road. I’d suggest going to the hotel before the sky gets too darkโ especially in late-autumn/winter months when the sun sets early at 4pm. There’s very minimum to no light at night, so would definitely be a good idea to plan ahead.
2. Warm & cozy interior

Arriving at the hotel felt like stepping into a friend’s cozy Scottish Highland cottage. A blend of traditional charm and modern comforts, it really captures the essence of Skye’s natural beauty.
There’s a restaurant, bar, lounge, and billiard room at the ground floor. All were beautifully decorated, absolutely stunning interior. Never thought that a cozy fireplace, spacey sofa, accompanied by a game of chess were something I needed.

I stayed at the top floor in a room with 1 king bed and 2 single beds. It was perfect for our family of 4 adults. Woke up to this golden sky in the morning, which was just too pretty.
๐กTip : it’s stairs only, no elevators. So plan accordingly ๐ป
3. Excellent dinner and breakfast

If you’re worried about the food since it’s far away from any restaurants, then fear not, the meals we had were absolutely delicious.
After check-in at 4pm, I was asked if I’d like to have dinner at their restaurant in the evening, which I definitely said yes to because there’s no other place nearby. But I didn’t regret it allโ my family and I were so happy with the meal. Dinner was served a la carte and was outside of the room rate.
The restaurant ambiance was bright and again, cozy. In the evening, it was simply decorated with fairy light. Simply beautiful. Whereas in the morning, I was seated by the window with a garden view. It was a nice setting.
Breakfast was served a la carte style, however, yogurt selections and pastries were available at the counter. It was a super filling and delicious breakfast.
Also, if you have a busy itinerary, packed lunches consisting of sandwich & chocolate bar for the next day are available to order. Just make sure to let the hotel crew know on the night before.
