5 Most Instagrammable Photo Spots in Edinburgh

| Time to Read :

2โ€“3 minutes

Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital, is a charming city with so many aesthetic spots. From the cobblestone streets, historical buildings, to its stunning panoramic views, here are some Edinburgh Instagrammable photo spots that you can find in the city.

Yes, as usual, with Google Maps pinpoint location! ๐ŸŒป

1. Stairs Overlooking Edinburgh Castle

This staircase offers a gorgeous viewpoint of Edinburgh Castle. There’s not a lot of people around when I was there- it was raining quite a bit. I’d suggest to come here early if you want to avoid the crowd.

2. Virgin Hotels Edinburgh

The rooftop of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh offers a panoramic view of the city. Edinburgh Castle and the stunning historical buildings around the area can be seen from here.

p.s. not sure if it’s open for public, I was a hotel guest.

3. Dean Village

Just around 15-20 minute walk from the Old Town and you get to see this scenery. It was lovely walking along the river here. Strolling around Dean Village was like walking inside a jigsaw puzzle scenery.

4. Edinburgh Old Town

Edinburgh Old Town is absolutely charming. It’s like you’re entering a Harry Potter movie. As there’s a lot of photo spots around the Old Town, here are 3 of my favourites.

๐ŸคŽ Victoria St. (right outside of Virgin Hotels Edinburgh)

๐ŸคŽ Bow Well

Keep walking down Victoria St. and you’ll find another scenic photo spot.

๐ŸคŽ The Milkman

On the other side of the Old Town (still a close walk though!), you can find The Milkman cafรฉ. Loved their coffee and I also adored the view right outside.

5. Edinburgh Castle

Another Edinburgh Castle viewpoint with the iconic Ross Fountain. This photo was taken during the Christmas season and there’s a Christmas Market right at this exact spot, which probably explains the blue light on the fountain ๐Ÿค”

6. The Dome

Edinburgh during Christmas was absolutely magical! And dining at The Dome only amplifies the magical ambiance. The Christmas decoration was definitely full on, best I’ve ever seen so far โœจ

Make sure to reserve especially during the busy Christmas period. Click here for reservation.

6. Waterstones

Bonus! It’s a stunning bookstore with a cafรฉ facing Edinburgh Castle. If you’re in luck and able to grab a seat by the window, go for it! ๐ŸคŽ

There’s a few more popular spots like Carlton Hill and Scott Monument, which I think they’re still worth going. I, however, did not have good photos of them because:

Carlton Hill: did not end up going there because it requires a little hike and it was mostly raining when I was there โ˜”๏ธ

Scott Monument: there’s a Christmas market at this area on my visit, it was nearly impossible to take good photo there. Not complaining though, loved to have experienced an Edinburgh Christmas Market ๐ŸŽ„
