Are you planning to visit Japan and getting your itinerary ready? Are you thinking about visiting peaceful Kawaguchiko from the bustling Osaka? Are you finding out ways to get to Kawaguchiko from Osaka? If so, we’re very much alike and this post is for you ๐
Before this Japan trip, I’ve researched several ways to travel between Osaka – Kawaguchiko. And for me, this one right here is the fastest and most convenient way.
Here’s your quick guide to getting to Kawaguchiko from Osaka:
Step 1: Osaka Station to Mishima Station

Start your adventure at Osaka Station. Board a comfortable shinkansen to Mishima Station. As you leave the city behind, enjoy the changing countryside views (or sleep).
I got to Osaka Station waaay too early in order to buy myself some bento boxes. In the end I got this Gudetama bento box. It’s just so cute and definitely serve as a unique keepsake from this Japan trip.
๐ Hint: If you sit on the right side of the shinkansen, you’ll get a stunning view of Mount Fuji. I sat on the left side, still got to see it, but wasn’t able to take a good photo.
Step 2: Mishima to Kawaguchiko

From Mishima Station, hop on a bus to Kawaguchiko. This bus ride is a visual treat, offering some of the most captivating Mount Fuji views. Truly a feast for the tired eyes haha.
You can book the bus online via Japan Bus Online, but if you’re experiencing some credit card trouble like me* and you’re unable to book online, don’t worry! There’s a bus ticket counter just on your right after exiting Mishima Station.
We bought the ticket less than 10 minutes before the scheduled bus departure and there were still some seats remaining. The bus stop is located just in front of the exit from Mishima Station, yes it’s also at a very close distance from the bus ticket counter too.
The journey takes about two hours, but you won’t mind with such scenery. The route passes through FujiQ Highland before arriving at Kawaguchiko.
Mishima Station has a nice view– you’re able to see Mount Fuji from there. I didn’t spend much time in Mishima due to the tight schedule, but it does seem like a nice city if you’d like to walk around while waiting for your bus.
*idk if it’s because I’m from Indo and so the credit card is deemed as not strong enough? I couldn’t book the bus from Shinjuku to Narita airport too with this card ๐ฅฒ did anyone else have the same experience like me?
๐ Hint: Foods and drinks are not allowed on the bus.
Step 3: Arrival at Kawaguchiko

Our stop was at Kawaguchiko Station, where the crowd was โจeverywhereโจ. From here we took the local bus to reach our hotel. You can use Suica to take the buses here.
Most hotels in Kawaguchiko offer shuttle services, so best to check with your hotel if they’re able to pick you up from the station.
๐ Hint: We left for Shinjuku after spending some time in Kawaguchiko, so we decided to buy the bus return ticket right when we arrived at Kawaguchiko Station the first time. We’re trying to avoid the crowds + getting rushed on our return date haha. If I’m not mistaken, I think we could buy these tickets 48 hr before the scheduled bus departure.
