I just visited Japan!! And like what many people have said, Japan is really is wonderful.
Prior to the trip, I did a little bit of research about where to go and what to eat– which helped me a lot during the trip. Another type of post that I really liked was about where to find the best locations for pictures, but I couldn’t find much about these tips.
So here goes my version of scenic photo locations with majestic Mount Fuji around Kawaguchiko and Fujiyoshida:
1. Oishi Park, Kawaguchiko

This is probably one of the most popular destinations at Kawaguchiko. There’s a souvenir shop, cafe, and it’s just a beautiful park overlooking Mount Fuji. I took a local bus (red line) to get here. Oishi Park is the terminus bus stop. I spent JPY 840 round trip from and to a bus stop near Ooike Hotel, which was the hotel that I stayed in.
2. Ooike Hotel, Kawaguchiko

For me, the best way to admire Mount Fuji is where there’s not a lot of people and where I could enjoy it with a nice cup of tea ๐ I was lucky enough to stay at the room with Mount Fuji view at Ooike Hotel (I wrote the complete hotel review here). The room was located on the 5th floor, so it was quiet and I could peacefully enjoy the view of Mount Fuji without any distractions.
3. Lawson, Kawaguchiko

I think Lawsons at Kawaguchiko have the best locations with Mount Fuji at the background. There’s one near Kawaguchiko Station, and there’s another one near Kawaguchiko Town Hall. I personally liked the latter one better, as it was less crowded and probably also the easier location to take photos– I saw several people that had to take photos from across the street at Lawson Kawaguchiko Station location.
4. Chureito Pagoda, Fujiyoshida

This is it! The location of the popular postcard photo. It’s quite a bit of a hike to get to the scenic view of Mount Fuji, Chureito Pagoda, and the surrounding town. Stairs are available if you’re up for it ๐ฅ. However, there’s also an alternate route if you want to go on a more leisurely walk (like I did). This alternate route is longer but definitely less steep. It took me about 25 minutes of slow-paced walk to get to the top.
5. Street at Fujiyoshida

Another popular photo destination at Fujiyoshida. This is located at a busy street, in which it’s actually unadvisable to take photos at the crosswalk. When I went there on a weekday, there’s a cross guard who was on stand-by to make sure people stay on the sidewalks & respect the road signs.
