Hotel Review: Ooike Hotel, Fujikawaguchiko

| Time to Read :

3โ€“4 minutes

Fujikawaguchiko is a small touristy town offering picturesque views of Mount Fuji. The town was packed with a lot of tourists despite us going during the low season. Roads and attractions were all busy during the day, but the ambiance became peaceful and relaxing during the night.

Similar to the Arashiyama story, I’m glad that I decided to stay in Fujikawaguchiko instead of going on a full day-trip from Tokyo. I actually stayed for 2 nights in Fujikawaguchiko and loved every second of it.

I had an amazing stay at Ooike Hotel, where we got a beautiful clear view of Mount Fuji. Below you’ll find a list of why I loved my stay at Ooike Hotel:

1. Unobstructed, Clear View of Mount Fuji

From the 5th floor, I was able to view Mount Fuji clearly from the morning until late at night. Waking up to this view was something I never knew I needed– it was just surreal, magical, and just peaceful.

Okay so that was the living room/bedroom area. Now their bathroom is also insta-worthy. Soaking in a bathtub inside a private bathroom all by yourself while looking at Mount Fuji– how I’d wish to come back again ๐Ÿ™‚

Last but not least! Their onsen. They’ve got several onsen locations. The one at a higher floor has this large windows with Mount Fuji view. This photo was taken at the ladies’ onsen around 8:30am– nobody else was there hence why I took this photo.

2. Onsen!

I love onsens and I’ll confidently say that this was one of the best onsen experience I had during my trip. Aside from the Mount Fuji view onsen, they also have outdoor onsen at the ground floor. The outdoor onsen has a lovely zen garden-vibe, in which there are 1 outdoor pool, 1 jacuzzi, 2 private outdoor “bathtubs”, and 1 indoor pool. Needless to say, their onsen was clean and tidy & complete amenities were also available.

3. Yummm Japanese Set Meals

Set meal was available for 7700 JPY per person. Since I was staying for 2 nights, I figured maybe on the last night I’d celebrate a little bit more with kaiseki meal. There were sashimi, hoto noodles, wagyu beef, assortment of Japanese dishes, and dessert. Everything was amazing and I ended up with a very full tummy & a happy face.

Booking was required, so definitely need to let the hotel staff know at least a day before.

4. The Little Things That Matter

Most hotels in Fujikawaguchiko provide shuttle services, and so does Ooike Hotel. They’ve got shuttle services to Kawaguchiko Station every 30 minutes.

And I just love how attentive they are– like the cute note telling us about their special tea (as pictured), and their welcome drinks & snacks– all lovely. Not to mention that they also have an indoor children playroom, I’d say this could be a perfect hotel for family.

5. Spacious, Clean, & Cozy Room

The room I stayed in was the Fuji View Room on the 5th floor. I booked this through Agoda, in which the room name was: 5th Floor Mount Fuji View Japanese-Western Style Room with Bath.

I was very satisfied with the room. It’s very spacious for the 3 of us (my parents and I). Very clean and it felt like new with its fusion traditional/modern interior.

On our 2nd day in Fujikawaguchiko, we actually just went to 1 sightseeing place and then we just went back to the hotel to relax. It’s just how cozy the hotel was! My favourite activity in the room was sitting by their huge window and just keep staring at Mount Fuji. That’s a core memory unlocked.

So there it was about Ooike Hotel. Here’s hoping for another chance to visit someday.

I hope you found this review helpful! Also keen to hear about your favourite stay in Japan ๐Ÿ˜Š
