Everyone needs a slow day when travelling. A day when you’re not bound to itinerary and when you could just soak in the ambiance of the destination.
For me, Upper East Side is the perfect place to spend a slow day in New York.
So, let’s get into it, what is there to do and see in New York’s Upper East Side?– heads up, this may bore you but hey it’s a slow day after all ๐คญ:
1. Getting some Levain Cookies

Can’t resist those heavenly Levain cookies. Their chocolate chip cookies are definitely a must-eat when in New York. The perfect golden brown shade, crunchy crust, and how gooey it is inside– absolute delight.
2. Grab a packed lunch and head to Central Park

There was a Chipotle at just a short walk from Levain Bakery, and of course no one could resist the great Chipotle. Or, if you’re coming from the west side of Central Park, there’s also a Shake Shack around the area. Love a good Shake Shack’s bacon avocado cheeseburger!
3. Visit the MET

Stroll around Central Park for a bit and head to the east side, where you’ll find The Metropolitan Museum of Art and its famous staircase.
๐ก Tip: at this point, you might feel the need to go to the washroom. Public washrooms at the MET are available through the 81st St. entrance.
4. Explore Upper East Side

Take a walk down Madison Ave. and soak in the ambiance. It’s fun to see how posh and chic people dressed in the neighbourhood.
Keep walking and you’ll find the famous Ralph’s Coffee on the 72nd St., definitely worth a visit. Their cute Christmassy cup sleeves are just too adorable.
5. Walk around Central Park again

The sun sets around 4:30pm in late November – early December, so I maximized the opportunity to stroll around Central Park again. My fav hobby at the park was to observe all the cute messages on Central Park benches. They just made my heart warm.
You can go up the Central Park mall until you reach Cherry Hill. Then walk down to Bow Bridge to take the instagrammable view of the iconic San Remo apartment. I did this on another day at Central Park because I didn’t have enough time on my slow day.
As the sun sets, walk towards the west corner of the park. There’s a Christmas market as you exit the park, or you could do some shopping at Columbus Circle shopping mall.
